Waitress: Good evening. Do you have a reservation?
Wilson: Yes. The reservation is under Lin.
Waitress: Very good, Mr. Lin. Do you prefer smoking or non-smoking seating?
Wilson: Non-smoking, please.
Waitress: If you follow me, I will show you to your table.
Wilson: Thank you.
Waitress: You're welcome. Your server will be with you right away to take your drink order.
講解：
1. 這段對(duì)話發(fā)生在顧客剛剛進(jìn)餐館時(shí)。Reservation見(jiàn)是“預(yù)定、預(yù)約”的意思，在好一點(diǎn)的餐館里吃飯一般都需要提前預(yù)約，而當(dāng)你進(jìn)入一家餐館時(shí)，侍者首先就會(huì)問(wèn)你是否有預(yù)約，Do you have a reservation?
2. 以誰(shuí)的名字預(yù)定座位或是酒店房間一般用介詞under，比如，I have made a reservation for a double room in the Hilton Hotel under Mr. Peterson. 我用彼得森的名字在希爾頓飯店訂了一個(gè)雙人間。
3. 國(guó)外的餐館里不一定允許吸煙，即使允許，一般也分為吸煙區(qū)和非吸煙區(qū)，即smoking area和non-smoking area，所以對(duì)話中的non-smoking seating就是非吸煙區(qū)的座位。
4. 當(dāng)別人對(duì)你表示感謝時(shí)，你可以說(shuō)"You're welcome."意思是“不用謝；沒(méi)什么”。
