A: Kevin, what is this mess? It looks like a pigsty in here! Clean this up! 凱文，這里怎么這么亂?看起來像個豬圈!整理一下!
B: Ok dad, I will do it in a minute, let me just finish this level of this game. 好的，爸爸，我待會就做，讓我先把這一級的游戲打完吧。
A: No, I said now! Plus, you are grounded, you're not allowed to play video games. I want you to make your bed, do the laundry and then come downstairs and sweep the floors. 不行，我是說先自愛!并且，你被禁足了。我希望你能把床收拾好，把衣服洗好，然后下樓清潔地面。
B: That's so unfair! 這不公平!
A: You have to pull your weight around here young man. My house, my rules. 年輕人，你在這里應(yīng)該盡心盡力，好好地對待我的房子，還有我的規(guī)矩。
B: But I already mopped the floors, dusted the furniture and vacuumed the rugs! 但是我已經(jīng)拖地，擦掉家具上的灰塵，并且用吸塵器清理了地毯上的臟東西了。
A: That's great, but you still have work to do, so get to it. 很好，但是你還是有東西要做，所以趕緊做吧。
1. What is this mess? 怎么亂成這樣了?
Don't mess up my clean floor. 別把我的干凈地板弄臟了。
They told us not to mess up the room. 他們告訴我們不要把房間弄臟。
jumble up 使雜亂，把…混在一起：
My son jumbled up all my papers. 我兒子把我的文件搞得亂七八糟。
John and his brother is so much alike that I jumble them up. 約翰和他弟弟如此之相像，以至于我把他們混淆起來了。
2. You are grounded. 你被禁足了。
在標(biāo)榜最自由最人性號稱“孩子天堂”的美國，父母會給不聽話的孩子說you are grounded，然后就看見小孩子一蹦三尺高地抗議最后卻只好呆在家里哪兒也不能去了，還不能看電視打游戲。“禁足”一詞在美國可謂家喻戶曉。
3. pull weight 盡力，竭盡所能
Good. I expect you to pullweight. 好的，我期望你能竭盡所能。
Either you pullweight or we replace you. 要么你盡心盡力，否則我們就把你替換掉。
