Larry和李華在書店里看書。李華在看一本流行時(shí)裝雜志。今天李華會(huì)學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語：bling和booze.

(Ambience sound in bookstore)

LL: I just found an interesting book on World War II. What are you reading, Li Hua?

LH: 我啊，我在看一本時(shí)裝雜志，他們?cè)谂u(píng)茱莉亞羅勃茲，說她在奧斯卡頒獎(jiǎng)典禮上，戴了太多的bling。Larry，什么是bling??？

LL: Oh, that's a new word for really big, shiny jewelry. Usually, a bling or a bling-bling is a piece of jewelry that has big diamonds.

LH: 噢！我懂了，bling就是指又大又亮的珠寶首飾，通常還鑲有鉆石的首飾。Larry, 你看，在這張照片里，茱莉亞羅勃茲戴了長(zhǎng)長(zhǎng)的鉆石耳環(huán)，還有鉆石項(xiàng)鏈，再加上大手鐲。真的，太多bling-bling！

LL: Yeah, that is a lot of shiny jewelry, but I thought girls liked that sort of thing. Don't you wish you had a lot of bling?

LH: 我想是吧。哪個(gè)女人不喜歡亮晶晶的珠寶呢！不過我覺得，一次戴太多的珠寶好像有點(diǎn)過份。Larry，你說呢？

LL: I'm not the best person to ask for fashion advice. To me, all that bling is really just a bunch of expensive rocks that don't do anything.

LH: 你說的沒錯(cuò)啦。這些亮晶晶的珠寶，說穿了，還不就是些昂貴的石頭。對(duì)了，Larry，bling除了用來形容首飾以外，我能不能把一件亮晶晶的禮服也說是bling呢？

LL: I haven't heard the word used that way. I think that bling only refers to jewelry.

LH: 原來，bling只能用來形容珠寶首飾。Larry 你看，這張照片里妮可基曼戴的戒指真漂亮。雜志說，這個(gè)戒指至少價(jià)值一百萬美元呢！

LL: That has to be the biggest ring I have ever seen. I can't imagine spending a million dollars on a rock!

LH: 你們男人??！永遠(yuǎn)也不會(huì)理解為什么女人要花這么多錢買珠寶首飾。這種事只有女人才懂啦！

LH: Larry, 這篇文章說"Booze on College Campuses." 大學(xué)校園里的booze！Booze是一種毒品嗎？

LL: Booze is another word for alcohol, like beer or whiskey.

LH: 噢，原來booze在這里指的是酒啊！這篇文章說很多美國(guó)大學(xué)里都有學(xué)生酗酒的問題，不只危害學(xué)生的身體健康，有的時(shí)候還會(huì)導(dǎo)致意外。這是真的嗎？

LL: Sadly, many college students drink a lot of booze. They study during the week and then they go to parties on the weekends. Booze is a major part of most college parties.

LH: 是呀！我也注意到了，很多美國(guó)大學(xué)生喜歡在周末開party，那總是少不了酒。對(duì)了，Larry，是不是所有的酒都可以稱為booze？葡萄酒是不是也算booze?

LL: Yes, wine can be called booze, and so can rum and vodka.

LH: 噢，這么說，booze可以指葡萄酒，也可以指烈酒。Larry，你是不是也經(jīng)常參加派對(duì)，喝酒狂歡?。?/p>

LL: Very funny, Li Hua. You know I don't have enough time to go to many parties. I do drink booze once in a while, but not all the time.

LH: 嗯，偶爾喝一點(diǎn)酒其實(shí)還可以。我比較喜歡喝葡萄酒，其他的酒我就不感興趣了。你呢？你喜歡什么樣的酒？

LL: Well, I prefer to drink beer. Stronger booze will give me a headache the next day.

LH: 我也不愛喝烈酒，除了像你說的，喝多了會(huì)頭疼，我覺得烈酒喝起來有汽油的味道。

LL：You might as well not to drink it!

今天李華學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語。第一個(gè)是bling，或者可以說bling-bling。這是指又大又亮的珠寶首飾。李華學(xué)到的另一個(gè)常用語是booze。這是指喝的酒，包括各式各樣的酒。
