As is known to all，examinations are a necessary part of teaching．However，cheating on exams has been on a rise recently，and is becoming a growing concern nowadays．Undoubtedly，it is not right to cheat on exams and we must take effective measures to stop cheating．

Cheating is not right for two main reasons．For one thing，the grade does not show what one has really mastered，if he cheats．In this way，he may pretend to know everything about the subject and even be a top student，while he is actually poor at it．What good will it do him when he is asked to apply what he has “l(fā)earned” in class to practical work in his future career？For another，while some students get high marks by cheating，it is quite unfair to those who do not cheat．Honesty is the best policy．If cheating became a common practice，where would we find an honest person，and who would we believe in？

For those two reasons，cheating must be prohibited．Firstly，students should be taught to be honest．Honesty is，to some extent，even more important than knowledge and skills．Secondly，students should also develop good attitudes towards exams．The real purpose of an exam is to show what one has learned about a certain subject and to make the new knowledge permanent．Thirdly，parents and teachers should trust the students and give them encouragement when they fail in exams．

In a word，cheating should be forbidden in schools and students should be educated to be honest．
