柯爾的野天鵝

| The trees are in their autumn beauty, |
樹林已著上美麗的秋色， |
| The woodland paths are dry, |
林間道路也不再陰濕， |
| Under the October twilight the water |
在十月的黃昏的光影下， |
| Mirror a still sky; |
水面有天空的鏡像； |
| Upon the brimming water among the stones |
而在亂石間的溪流里 |
| Are nine-and-fifty swans. |
是九十五只天鵝。 |
| The nineteenth autumn has come upon me |
從我最初的屈指， |
| Since I first made my count; |
現(xiàn)在已是第十九個秋天， |
| I saw, before I had well finished, |
天鵝乍然飛起， |
| All suddenly mount |
飛起，在天空盤旋， |
| And scatter wheeling in great broken rings |
嘈雜的翅膀拍動的聲音。 |
| Upon their clamorous wings. |
我曾欣賞過這些美麗的生靈， |
| I have looked upon those brilliant creatures, |
而現(xiàn)在我卻倦了。 |
| And now my heart is sore. |
從我初次在這湖邊的暮色里 |
| All's changed since I, hearing at twilight, |
躡足傾聽 |
| The first time on this shore, |
那翅膀的和聲， |
| The bell-beat of their wings above my head, |
一切都已變了。 |
| Trod with a lighter tread. |
它們卻還未倦，成雙 |
| Unwearied still, lover by lover, |
在泠泠的溪澗里 |
| They paddle in the cold |
劃行，或者飛升； |
| Companionable streams or climb the air; |
還是年輕的心啊，無論 |
| Their hearts have not grown old; |
漫游到了哪里， |
| Passion or conquest, wander where they will, |
仍有征服，仍有激情。 |
| Attend upon them still. |
現(xiàn)在，它們浮在平靜的水面， |
| But now they drift on the still water, |
神秘、優(yōu)雅； |
| Mysterious, beautiful; |
在怎樣的水草間它們棲息？ |
| Among what rushes will they build, |
在怎樣的湖邊它們營筑？ |
| By what lake's edge or pool |
又怎樣陶醉了我的眼睛， |
| Delight men's eyes when I awake some day |
在我哪天醒來 |
| To find they have flown away? |
目送它們飛遠(yuǎn)的時候？ |
