《新月集》 (The Crescent Moon，1903)是印度詩(shī)人、作家泰戈?duì)杽?chuàng)作的詩(shī)集，主要譯自1903年出版的孟加拉文詩(shī)集《兒童集》，也有的是用英文直接創(chuàng)作的。 詩(shī)集里著力描繪的是一個(gè)個(gè)天真可愛的兒童。詩(shī)人塑造了一批神形兼?zhèn)?、熠熠閃光的天使般的兒童藝術(shù)形象。

在《新月集》中，詩(shī)人書寫了孩子純凈的心靈。孩子們喜歡玩簡(jiǎn)單的小游戲，且樂此不疲。“他們用沙子建造房屋，他們用空貝殼游戲。”“孩子，你多么快樂，整個(gè)早晨坐在塵土里，玩著一根折斷的小樹枝。”孩子們有著奇妙的想象，“如果我鬧著玩兒，變成一朵金香木花，長(zhǎng)在那樹的高枝上，在風(fēng)中笑得搖搖擺擺，在新生嫩葉上跳舞，媽媽，你認(rèn)得出是我嗎?”此外，《新月集》也描寫了孩子和母親的感情。“他知道慈母心中小小一角就可以容納無窮的歡樂，被母親逮住了緊抱在她慈愛的雙臂里，遠(yuǎn)比自由甜蜜。”在詩(shī)人的筆下，詩(shī)中的母親帶有一種圣潔的光輝。

36 祝福 BENEDICTION

BLESS this little heart, this white soul that has won the kiss of heaven for our earth.

祝福這個(gè)小心靈，這個(gè)潔白的靈魂，他為我們的大地，贏得了天的接吻。

He loves the light of the sun, he loves the sight of his mother's face.

他愛日光，他愛見他媽媽的臉。

He has not learned to despise the dust, and to hanker after gold.

他沒有學(xué)會(huì)厭惡塵土而渴求黃金。

Clasp him to your heart and bless him.

緊抱他在你的心里，并且祝福他。

He has come into this land of an hundred cross-roads.

他已來到這個(gè)歧路百出的大地上了。

I know not how he chose you from the crowd, came to your door, and grasped your hand to ask his way.

我不知道他怎么從群眾中選出你來，來到你的門前抓住你的手問路。

He will follow you, laughing and talking, and not a doubt in his heart.

他笑著，談著，跟著你走，心里沒有一點(diǎn)兒疑惑。

Keep his trust, lead him straight and bless him.

不要辜負(fù)他的信任，引導(dǎo)他到正路，并且祝福他。

Lay your hand on his head, and pray that though the waves underneath grow threatening, yet the breath from above may come and fill his sails and waft him to the haven of peace.

把你的手按在他的頭上，祈求著：底下的波濤雖然險(xiǎn)惡，然而從上面來的風(fēng)，會(huì)鼓起他的船帆，送他到和平的港口的。

Forget him not in your hurry, let him come to your heart and bless him.

不要在忙碌中把他忘了，讓他來到你的心里，并且祝福他。
