【Time is running out. 時(shí)間越來(lái)越緊迫了。】
run out 表示“耗盡、到期、屆滿(mǎn)”,而 run out of 是“將……用光、缺乏”,前者不能接名詞,而后者一定接名詞或動(dòng)名詞。
A: We'd better hurry. Time is running out.
我們最好快一點(diǎn)。時(shí)間快到了。
B: But we have to find a gas station first. We are running out of gas.
但是我們必須先找個(gè)加油站。汽油快用光了。
