Phil:That's right. I'm studying graphic arts at U.C.L.A.;
F1:And I see you worked at a museum last summer.;
Phil:Yes.I worked as a part-time guide from June until September.;
I did some drawings there.;
Phil:Would you like to see them?I have them right here.;
F1:Why,Phil,these are wonderful.;
Your art teacher said you were a good student.;
But you're also a very talented artist.;
Phil:Thank you.;
F1:Unfortunately,we don't have any job openings now.;

Mike:So,Phil,how was the interview? Did you get a job?;
Phil:Well,she said she liked my work, but I don't know.;
She also said they didn't have any openings right now.;

They interview job applicants for many companies.;
They are currently seeking people to fill two of the job openings below.;
Exercise A. Listen to the telephone conversations;
and check the job openings you hear.;
Conversation 1 Katy:Jobseek. This is Katy. How can I help you?;
Linda:This is Linda Smith.I sent in a resume two weeks ago.;
Katy:Let me see, Linda.What job did you want?;
Linda:I want to work with people. So I applied for a receptionist job.;
Katy:Yes,here it is. Well,we only have one opening for a receptionist.;
But they want someone with at least one year of experience.;
Linda:Well,I worked at Barclay's Bank from June last year until this January.;
Katy:Yes,I see that. They really prefer a college degree.;
Linda:I'm studying right now.;
That's why I just want to work during the day.I go to school at night.;
Katy:Okay.Linda. Worldwide Travel needs an outgoing,;
energetic person to work part-time.;
Would you like me to make an appointment for an interview?;
Conversation 2 Katy:Jobseek. This is Katy. How can I help you?;
Jeff:Hello,this is Jeff Golden from Jiffy Appliances.;
Steve Jackson at Autoparts on Maine Street said you had good mechanics.;
We have a full-time opening for an experienced mechanic.;
Katy:Sounds good, Mr.Golden.What exactly are you looking for?;
Jeff:We want someone who is very careful and patient.;
Someone who wants to do a good job.;
We prefer someone with a year or two years experience.;
But a good worker with a two-year technical school diploma is okay.;
Katy:Well,that sounds like John Miller.;
I can send John over tomorrow. What time's best?;
