A man was hit by a cab in the street. He was brought to the hospital. His wife who was standing up by his bed, said to the doctor: "I think that he is very ill."
I am afraid that he is dead. said the doctor.
Hearing this, the man moved his head and said: "I'm not dead. I'm still alive ."

目前,美國共有200多萬名醫(yī)師(physicians)、藥劑師(pharmacists)、牙醫(yī)師(dentists)和護士(nurses)。這些特殊的職業(yè)對醫(yī)務人員的學歷要求很高,醫(yī)師至少要接受八年的大學教育和醫(yī)院實習經(jīng)驗,并具有一個或兩個醫(yī)學學位,護士必須接受兩年大專水平的訓練(college level training)。美國有14萬名注冊護士,其中大半是女性,男性僅有15,000人。
美國共有醫(yī)師43余萬人,換句話說,每526人中就有一名醫(yī)師。醫(yī)師必須完成八年的研究課程,再念兩年才具備作??漆t(yī)生的資格。他們必須在醫(yī)院工作二、三年后才可以自行執(zhí)業(yè)。
