First listen and then answer the question.

Why does the writer not understand the porter?

I arrived in London at last. The railway station was big, black and dark. I did not know the way to my hotel, so I asked a porter. I not only spoke English very carefully, but very clearly as well. The porter, however, could not understand me. I repeated my question several times and at last he understood. he answered me, but he spoke neither slowly nor clearly. I am a foreigner, I said. Then he spoke slowly, but I could not understand him. My teacher never spoke English like that! The porter and I looked at each other and smiled. Then he said something and I understood it. Youll soon learn English! he said. I wonder. In England, each person speaks a different language. The English understand each other, but I dont understand them! Do they speak English?

我終于到了倫敦?；疖囌竞艽螅趾谟职?。我不知道去飯店的路該怎么走，于是向一個搬運工打聽。我的英語講得不但非常認真，而且咬字也非常清楚。然而搬運工卻不明白我的話。我把問話重復(fù)了很多遍。他終于聽懂了。他回答了，但他講得既不慢也不清楚。“我是個外國人，”我說。于是他說得慢了，可我還是聽不懂。我的老師從來不那樣講英語！我和搬運工相視一笑。接著，他說了點什么，這回我聽懂了。“您會很快學(xué)會英語的！”他說。我感到奇怪。在英國，人們各自說著一種不同的語言。英國人之間相互聽得懂，可我卻不懂他們的話！他們說的是英語嗎？

railroad : 鐵路

railway/railroad station : 火車站

★porter n. 搬運工

★several 幾個

some:一些, 即可以修飾可數(shù), 又可以修飾不可數(shù)

several:只能修飾可數(shù)＝a number of(一些)

a great number of : 大量的

some time:一段時間　some time age 一段時間以前

sometime: 某時 : I will defeat you sometime. (總有一天我將打敗你)

sometimes:有時, 偶爾

some times : (不存在這種說法)

several times : 許多次

★foreigner n. 外國人

★wonder v. 感到奇怪

wonder n.　奇觀 : It's a wonder./seven wonders(七大奇觀)

wonderful adj 極好的

wonder ① wonder at sth.對...事情感奇怪: I wonder at this.

② want to know 想要知道: I wonder

間接引語的疑問句 : 一般疑問句用if/whether引導(dǎo), 特殊疑問句用特殊疑問詞引導(dǎo)

wonder+if : 是否: I wonder if you have any spare time.

wonder+特殊疑問詞: I wonder what time it is.

所有的從句都用陳述句的句序, 陳述句句序 : 主語在動詞前面

I wonder why you are late.

I wonder where you are going.

I wondered where you were going.

Could you tell me how to get to?

I wondered how to get there.

no wonder : 難怪

wonder n. : 奇觀

wonderful : 極好的

wonder v.感到奇怪, wonder at

wonder : want to know : 想知道

I wonder if you have friend.

I wonder how many friends you have.

【課文講解】

arrive in : 到達, reach,get

When will you arrive?

arrive vi.不及物動詞

reach vt.后面一定要加賓語

arrive at : 小地點, arrive in; 大地點

When will you reach(arrive in) BeiJing?

get to+賓語 : 到達

When will you get to BeiJing?

How can I get there?

get home:到家, get there : 到那

home/there都是副詞, 副詞跟動詞連用的時候不需要加介詞, “arrive” 也一樣, 但一般不用“reach home/there” , 如一定要這樣寫則把 “home” 看作名詞, “there” 當代詞看, 不作副詞看

I arrived at last.我終于到了

并列的表達方式中前面都是用逗號隔開, 最后兩個用and連接

balck : 顏色(建筑物).The room is black.

dark : without light.沒有光線 : It is dark.

the way to : 通往...路

Can you tell me the way to...

I don't know the way to...Can you tell me how to get there?

I don't know the way to the school and where is it?

I know the way.

know sth. well:很熟悉

I know the boy well.

so : 連詞, 把并列句連到一起

如果有兩個謂語動詞, 加連詞, 成為并列

not only...but...as well : 不但...而且...

并列連詞, 什么東西并列連接什么

I can speak Chinese. I can speak English.

I can speak not only Chinese but English as well.

I not only sing but dance as well.

Not only you but also I will go there.主語并列(一般不這么用)

not only,喜歡放在動詞的前面

一般遇到實義動詞和非實義動詞的時候, 習(xí)慣放在兩者之間

I can not only speak Chinese but English as well.(更習(xí)慣的說法)

I not only like my mother but my father as well.

however,可以直接放在句首, 也可以放在句子中間

several times 不用some times

neither...nor... 即不...也不...

I speak neither Janpanese nor English.

like that: 作狀語, 象那樣

each other : 互相

soon,強調(diào)時間上的快

I wonder : 感到奇怪

each(every) person : 每個人

speak English not only very carefully but very clearly.

To learn English well is to study hard.

但在口語中 : To learn English well is study hard. (沒to)

提高口語和聽力的方式 :

1. 在讀書的時候不能very clearly,注意讀音規(guī)則

2. carefully隨遇而安, 以understand為準, 學(xué)會重復(fù)

3. 多聽多說
