Dalian Wanda is significantly downsizing its ecommerce arm as the Chinese conglomerate returns to its core real estate business model.

隨著大連萬達(Dalian Wanda)回歸核心的房地產(chǎn)業(yè)務(wù)，這家中國企業(yè)集團正在大幅縮減旗下電子商務(wù)部門。

Wanda Internet Technology Group will cut at least 1,000 jobs this year, according to two people familiar with the matter. The group, which runs Wanda’s online retail and finance services, employs about 6,000 people.

據(jù)兩位知情人士透露，萬達網(wǎng)絡(luò)科技集團(Wanda Internet Technology Group)今年將至少裁員1000人。該集團經(jīng)營著萬達的在線零售與金融服務(wù)，擁有約6000名雇員。

“The group is readjusting in order to better develop more quickly and in a healthy manner,” said Qu Dejun, the group’s president, on his public social media account.

Dalian Wanda denied Chinese state media reports that its internet arm planned to cut its total number of employees down to 300, but otherwise declined to comment to the Financial Times about whether job cuts were possible.

The Chinese group’s internet arm is tasked with leveraging big data to improve online retail services, which Dalian Wanda hoped to merge with traditional offline shopping models — a convergence of online and offline retailing in which Alibaba has also invested heavily.

萬達集團的互聯(lián)網(wǎng)部門負責(zé)利用大數(shù)據(jù)提升在線零售服務(wù)，萬達希望將這塊業(yè)務(wù)與傳統(tǒng)的線下購物模式合并——在這種線上與線下零售業(yè)務(wù)的融合上，阿里巴巴(Alibaba)也投入了巨資。

Although it is one of the less visible subsidiaries in the Dalian Wanda empire, Wanda Internet Technology Group nonetheless had been crucial to developing the group’s new retail strategy.
