A new mega-casino opened in the Philippines Monday as the fast-growing southeast Asiannation ups its bid to become a world gaming destination.

周一菲律賓的一家新賭場(chǎng)開業(yè)，這個(gè)東南亞發(fā)展最快的國(guó)家正在加緊努力成為世界博彩目的地。

Manila aims to rival Macau and Las Vegas interms of gaming revenues, and the "City of Dreams"is the latest in a string of casinos that have opened in recent years.

在博彩收入方面馬尼拉打算與澳門、拉斯維加斯競(jìng)爭(zhēng)，夢(mèng)幻之城就是近幾年和剛剛開業(yè)的一系列賭場(chǎng)。

The new casino is an imposing structure onManila Bay with six gleaming golden towerssurrounding a giant egg-shaped dome,and industry and government leaders hope that it willattract cashed-uptourists from other parts of Asia.

新賭場(chǎng)是馬尼拉灣一座雄偉的建筑，六個(gè)金光燦燦的金塔圍繞著一座巨型蛋形穹頂，工業(yè)和政府領(lǐng)導(dǎo)希望可以吸引亞洲其他國(guó)家的富有的游客。

The casino is a joint venture between thecountry's richest man Henry Sy, Australian billionaireJames Packer and Lawrence Ho, son of Macau casino mogul Stanley Ho.

賭場(chǎng)是由菲律賓首富施至誠(chéng)，澳大利亞億萬(wàn)富翁James Packer和何猷龍，澳門賭王何鴻燊的兒子。

"The goal is to find the best (sites) in Asia... The Philippines is one of the fastest growingeconomies anywhere in the world. We've seen the market really pick up," Ho told reporters.

何告訴記者：“目標(biāo)是變成亞洲最好的(賭場(chǎng))…在世界任何地方菲律賓都是發(fā)展最快的經(jīng)濟(jì)體。我們已經(jīng)看到市場(chǎng)真的復(fù)蘇了。”

Ho also acknowledged the huge cost of building the resort. The Philippine government requiresa minimum $1 billion investment for new casinos built in the area.

何也確認(rèn)了一筆建造度假村的巨額投資。菲律賓政府要求在這一區(qū)域投資新賭場(chǎng)至少要投資10億美元。

Packer said jokingly that the resort wasinspired by Hollywood movies "Casino" and "OceansEleven",and Robert de Niro, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have appeared ongiantbillboards and TV commercials to promote the casino.

The 6.2-hectare (15-acre) complex is the second off our mega resorts to open on reclaimedportions of the bay, just a few hundredmeters from the city's slum communities.
