The assessment came after local teachers scoredhighest in 12 indicators in an international survey.
上海老師得到這一高度評價是因為他們在一項國際調查中獲得了12個指標的最高分數(shù)。
The city attaches great importance to cultivating first-class teachers and giving themrewarding career opportunities, said Zhang Minxuan, director of the Research Institute ofInternational and Comparative Education at Shanghai Normal University.

In addition to the 12 indicators, such as efficiency of lessons, encouraging students to beengaged in classes, and professional training, Shanghai teachers' overall performance innearly 40 indicators far exceeded the international average standard, the survey found.
調查還顯示,上海教師不僅在12項指標(包括課程效率、調動學生積極性、專業(yè)能力等)中獲得高分,在其他近40個指標中,其分數(shù)也遠遠超過了世界教育者的平均水平。

Nearly 4,000 Shanghai teachers from 199 junior high schools responded to the survey, whichalso polled teachers in 37 other countries and regions, including Australia, Italy, Singapore andJapan, over the past three years.
近三年以來,有來自上海市199所初中的近4000名教師參與了此次調查。調查還涵蓋了澳大利亞、意大利、新加坡、日本等37個國家的教師。
In an interview run by the journal Shanghai Education on WeChat, Karine Tremblay, directorof the survey project, said Shanghai teachers have in-depth exchanges between peers, whichhelps them to "grow together on a fast track".

In the OECD's 2012 Program for International Student Assessment, Shanghai students toppedthe ranks in math, reading and science tests in competition with those from dozens ofcountries.

"But the survey results showed that it could be a different story with Shanghai teachers,"Zhang said.

The survey found that teachers who said that thinking and reasoning are more importantthan passing on knowledge to students accounted for 96 percent of the respondents, thehighest proportion globally.
調查顯示,96%的老師認為思辨能力的培養(yǎng)比獲得知識的多少更重要。持有這種想法的老師比例是全世界最高的。
Zheng Yiwen, a math teacher at an elite high school in Shanghai's Changning district, said: "We prioritize giving students opportunities to think over methods to solve a question bythemselves, pair discussions and group work. ... Moreover, we encourage them to givemultiple answers to a question."
來自上海長寧區(qū)某重點中學的數(shù)學老師鄭逸文說道:“我們非常重視讓學生思考,通過相互討論和小組合作讓他們自行解決問題。同時,我們還鼓勵他們對一個問題做出多樣解答。”
The survey also found that all teachers in Shanghai receive in-house training, with a veteranteacher as a one-on-one instructor.
調查還發(fā)現(xiàn),上海所有資歷較淺的教師都會接受內部培訓。教學經驗豐富的老師會對他們進行一對一的指導。
The proportion of teachers often observing other teachers' classes was 99 percent, the world'shighest.
另外,上海教師之間相互觀摩課程的比例也最高,約為99%。
