1971年,一直默默無聞的美國民謠歌手Don McLean(唐•麥克林)在靈感泉涌中寫下了一首超長的歌曲《American Pie》(美國派),不僅使他一夜成名,而且把他和他的這首作品一直流傳到了21世紀的今天。1977年,張國榮拿這首歌參加了亞洲歌唱大賽,由于比賽時間的限制,他在比賽中唱了一4分鐘左右版本的American pie,并成為亞軍。
哥哥在跨越97演唱會上說:世上有一種鳥是沒有腳的,它只能不停的飛呀飛。累了就睡在風里。他一生只能落地依次,就是他死的時候。愿在天安好。
