70年代著名的新浪潮樂(lè)隊(duì)Supertramp成立于1969年，是由樂(lè)隊(duì)主唱兼keyboard手Rick Davies的一個(gè)億萬(wàn)富翁的朋友出錢(qián)支持成立的，由于不用考慮商業(yè)效益，所以前期他們基本都沉醉于過(guò)份的SOLO中，動(dòng)輒8、9分鐘的作品比比皆是，完全不顧主流市場(chǎng)的作法及天馬行空的浪漫風(fēng)格盡管擁有了部分鐵桿FANS，但更多的是受到主流音樂(lè)評(píng)論家的刻薄批評(píng)，在74年的《Crime of the Century》的發(fā)行后更是達(dá)到登峰造極的地步，盡管這張專(zhuān)輯在今天看來(lái)是多么的唯美。后來(lái)億萬(wàn)富翁撤出了支持使得樂(lè)隊(duì)不得不為自己的生存問(wèn)題考慮起來(lái)不得不趨向于主流，并在1979年發(fā)行了他們最成功的一張專(zhuān)輯《Breakfast in America 》，這張全球賣(mài)出1800萬(wàn)的唱片不僅使Supertramp名聲大震，里面的'take the Long Way Home'， 'the Logical Song' 和 'goodbye Stranger'都曾挺進(jìn)過(guò)Single 10內(nèi)，但也用光了他們所有的靈感，在這張專(zhuān)輯后他們也曾經(jīng)嘗試不同風(fēng)格比如R＆B、Blues等，但都未達(dá)到79年的高度，在進(jìn)行了幾場(chǎng)巡演后，樂(lè)隊(duì)于84年解散。
