In the middle of summer, China's largest ice cave, Ningwu, is still in a frozen state despite the outdoor temperature surpassing 40 degrees Celsius.
For a long time, China is famous not only for beautiful landscapes or delicious foods, but also as a place where many strange and unique stories often occur. One of them is Ningwu cave, which is always frozen regardless of how hot the weather is.
Located in the mountains of Son Tay province, Ningwu is located at an altitude of 2,300m above sea level and about 100m deep.
The structure of China's largest ice cave is quite special. The cave is shaped like a bowling tree, underground, deep into the ridge with walls and the bottom of the cave covered with thick ice. It is interesting that even in the middle of summer, the outdoor temperature is over 40 degrees C, but this Ningwu is still in a state of freezing, creating a magical beauty.
According to scientists, Ningwu cave was formed during the ice age, more than 3 million years ago. That's also the reason this freezing cave never melts regardless of the high temperature outdoors. Every day, thousands of visitors here, body heat and flash from the camera are not enough to heat the cave atmosphere.
In addition, the shape of the cave is a trap, allowing cold air to enter through the narrow passageway and sink in the winter. Meanwhile, according to the convection phenomenon, hot air in the ice cave will escape. It can be said that nature has created a perfect balance of all the factors that helped this largest ice cave of China form and survive for centuries.
Every year, many explorers come here to survey and research to explain the strange phenomenon that makes this ice cave become a special and attractive tourist destination in China. Every year, Ningwu welcomes about 1,000 visitors a day and is open from May to October.
Looking down from above, this entire giant Chinese ice cave is covered by thousands of giant, vertical icicles. The majestic natural scenery, overwhelming, gives visitors impressive experience, hard to forget.
Deep inside the largest ice cave in China, you will admire the spectacular natural wonders. The ice cubes glistened under the light, reflecting brilliantly. The four-dimensional space covered by snow and ice combined with colorful lights makes the scene become fanciful and vivid.
The ice cubes have many sharp angles. Therefore, a wooden path with two handrails has been built to serve the needs of sightseeing as well as ensure safety for visitors. In addition, any act of climbing on ice blocks is prohibited. Entrance fee to visit the cave is 120 yuan.
