1　rock 指天然的大巖石，在美式英語中也指小石塊。

A huge rock blocks the way. 一塊巨石擋住了路。

Rocks are rolling down the side of a mountain. 巨石從山腰滾下來。

2　stone 指較小的石塊或加工過的建筑用石。

The school had a stone wall around it. 這所學校周圍有石墻。

The boys threw stones/rocks in the pond. 孩子們把石塊扔進池塘。
