197　only的用法

1　only 作形容詞用時，意為“唯一的，僅有的”，只能作定語，前面常有定冠詞或one's，不能作表語。

Mary is his only sister. 瑪麗是他唯一的妹妹。（后跟可數(shù)名詞 ）

He drank the only milk in the ice box. 他把冰箱里僅有的牛奶給喝了。（后跟不可數(shù)名詞 ）

These are the only parks in the city. 這些是這個城市里僅有的公園。（后跟復(fù)數(shù)名詞 ）

an only child意為“獨生子”。

2　only 作副詞用時，意為“僅僅，只是”，可以修飾形容詞、副詞或動詞。

Only one student failed in the exam. 只有1個學(xué)生沒有及格。（修飾數(shù)量詞one ）

This bird sings only in the morning . 這只鳥只在早晨鳴叫。（修飾副詞短語in the morning ）

I only met him once. 我僅僅遇見過他1次。（修飾動詞met ）

only在句中修飾不同的詞，句義也往往不同。

Only Tom lent me the money. 只有湯姆把錢借給我。（別人不借給我）

Tom only lent me the money. 湯姆只是把錢借給我。（不是送給我）

Tom lent only me the money. 湯姆只把錢借給我。（不借給別人）
