1　near 常用作介詞或副詞。作介詞用時，near 意為“靠近，在……附近”，后跟名詞、代詞等。作副詞用時，near 放在動詞后面，意為“在附近，近地”。

He is sitting near the window. 他靠近窗戶坐著。

The middle school is near a hospital. 那所中學靠近一家醫(yī)院。

National Day is drawing near . 國慶節(jié)臨近了。

2　near 還可用作形容詞，意為“近的，接近的”，作定語或表語。

Which is the nearest way to the station? 哪條是去火車站的最近的路？

The post office is quite near . 郵局離得很近。

3　next to 為介詞短語，后跟名詞，意為“靠近，相鄰，貼近”。

She sits next to me in class. 在班上她坐在我旁邊。

They are lying next to each other. 他們相互靠近躺著。
