Looking for an Apartment尋找住房

Student: I've been told you might have an apartment to let. Would it be convenient to see it now?

Agent: Sure do. Please come this way. It's on the 3rd floor. This is the bedroom. It's large enough for two people.
中介代理：當(dāng)然可以了。請(qǐng)這邊走，房子在三樓…這是臥室，足夠住兩個(gè)人的。
Student: Maybe the room is a bit small. but it isn't stuffy at all. It seems really warm too. May I see the kitchen?
學(xué)生：這房間可能有點(diǎn)兒小，但一點(diǎn)兒也不悶，而且看起來(lái)也很暖和。我可以看看廚房嗎？
Agent: Of course. It's full-size and completely modern. The owner just had it remodeled. so everything in it is new, including the fridge and stove.
中介代理：可以啊。這個(gè)廚房尺寸標(biāo)準(zhǔn)而且完全現(xiàn)代化？業(yè)主剛重新裝修的，所以每一樣?xùn)|西都是新的，包括冰箱和爐子。
Student: How much is the rent?

Agent: It's two hundred bucks a month. payable at the beginning of every month.

Student: Are water and electricity included?

Agent: No. they are both extra. But all local telephone calls are free and there's cable for the television and it's free too.

Student: Well, then I think Yd like to take it.

Agent: It'll be two months up front. And please remember no parties.
中介代理：需預(yù)先交兩個(gè)月的房租，還要記住不能在這里開(kāi)派對(duì)。

1.“sure do”是很常用的口語(yǔ)短句，意為“當(dāng)然行了，當(dāng)然可以了”，也可以只用“sure”。
2.“buck”是俚語(yǔ)，意思是“美元”，相當(dāng)于“dollar”。
3.“up front”在這里的意思為“提前，預(yù)先”，相當(dāng)于“in advance”。例如: We'll pay you half up front and the other half when you've finished the job.（我們先付給你一半錢，剩下的一半等你干完了再付。）另外，“up front”還可以作名詞，在口語(yǔ)中表示“提前支付的款項(xiàng)，先期付款”；“…remember no parties.“在這里表示“…remember no parties are allowed.”，即“記住不能在這里開(kāi)派對(duì)”。

在美國(guó)，獲得房屋信息的最佳途徑就是瀏覽當(dāng)?shù)貓?bào)紙。周日版一般會(huì)刊登當(dāng)?shù)厥鄯亢妥夥康膹V告，但在周六晚間即可在街頭或雜貨店里買到。廣告刊登在分類廣告的房地產(chǎn)專欄和公寓欄內(nèi)。但要想看懂上面的廣告，還要先學(xué)一下廣告里的常用簡(jiǎn)寫(xiě)詞。
