首先，let's have a review。在第十二課第一講中我們講到了let one's face fall 是某人自己使自己失望。
【今日課題詳解】
那么現(xiàn)在我想說“某人使得別人失望”“令別人大失所望”，還是要用到face和fall這2個(gè)單詞。這時(shí)候又怎么說呢?What's it? Please listen to my sentence:Mary made his face fall from head to toe because she wasn't at the party. Mary使得他極為失望,因?yàn)樗龥]有參加他的派對(duì)。在這個(gè)句子中，就是把let one's face fall中的使役動(dòng)詞改成了另一個(gè)使役動(dòng)詞：m-a-k-e，make，即：make one's face fall。It's similar to saying"make someone disappointed"。
Let's look at tow more sentences. 1 My daughter makes my face fall to make the same mistakes over and over. 我的女兒令我大失所望，因?yàn)樗欢伲俣姆竿瑯拥腻e(cuò)誤。2 My student made my face fall at not winning the first prize in the international ballet competition. 我的學(xué)生令我大失所望，因?yàn)樗趪H芭蕾舞比賽中沒有獲得冠軍。
在第十二課第一講中，我們學(xué)習(xí)了因?yàn)槟呈露鴏et one's face fall的4種說法，那么說因?yàn)槟呈耺ake one's face fall同樣可以有4種說法。即：make one's face at/about doing (or not doing) something;make one's face at/about/in/by something;make one's face (not) to do something;make one's face fall of something。
