We've learned a short sentence which means "I'm going to say it honestly.' have you remembered? It is : Let's get this out in the open. This morning, I'd like to share a new expression with you whose meaning is similar to it. If you want to know, please listen to the following dialogue.

A : You look very sick today. B : Truth be told. I'm not feeling very good.

【答疑解惑】

It is "Truth be told." we also say it as : Truth be known. Both of them are idioms which are similar to saying "Tell me the truth." or "Speak it candidly." it's used to tell the true facts about a situation when these are not known by others. It's similar to saying in Chinese: 說真的，說實話，老實地說，坦率地說，and so on. Truth be told這個作為習語，是有文法的。它其實是個省略句。The whole sentence is" The truth will be told." 那么在生活中，語言只要能表意準確，越是簡練就越好，因此就直接說為“Truth be told.”“Truth be known”也是如此。

As for pronunciation, "sick today" should be paid attention to. It's pronounced as ['si'd?dei]. Sick 是以爆破音[k]結(jié)尾，today是以爆破音[t]開頭。生活中我們就知道具有同樣本事的人在一起會因為嫉妒而你真我斗，這時只要有一方能退一步，就可海闊天空。在這里，誰退一步呢?這時，前面的那個厲害的爆破音[k]就主動躲開不發(fā)音。Today 音標中的[t]在元音前[?]濁化為[d],因此發(fā)音為[‘d?dei]

【關(guān)鍵詞】"Look" means "appear, seem" as a linking verb in this sentence. 譯為：看來好像，似乎，顯得。 Let's look at it's uses. 作為系動詞，后面直接跟名詞或是形容詞。這兩句話中l(wèi)ook后面可以加上like, look like，但是這是look就是實義動詞了。

Look at the following sentences.That book looks an interesting book. 那好像是本有趣的書。You made me look a complete fool. 你弄得我像是個十足的傻瓜。

"Sick" means "physically or mentally ill". Let's look at it's classical sentence including useful phrases. 人在病的時候就最好請假修身養(yǎng)性，不要為了錢而勉強自己，這樣得不償失，因此做好請假在家好好休息。Peter has been sick off for two weeks. Peter 因病2周沒上班了。"Be off sick" means"be away from work because of illness". 因病未上班。Emma has just called in sick. Emma剛才打電話請病假。"Call in sick" means "telephone to say somebody will not be coming to work because he's ill'. 意思是：打電話請病假。Britain's workers went sick for a record number of days. 去年英國工人請病假的天數(shù)創(chuàng)下了記錄。"Go sick" means "don't go to work because of illness". 因病未上班。如今的醫(yī)藥費實在是太貴了，老百姓都說：不病就是掙了錢。I can't afford to get sick. 我病不起。"Get sick" means "become ill". 是的，大家還是在掙錢養(yǎng)家的時候還是要注意身體，不要把掙來的錢送給醫(yī)院去了，不劃算呀。

【文法】look 在本句中是系動詞，做謂語， 后面接形容詞sick做表語，very 是程度副詞做程度狀語,修飾sick。Today做時間狀語。

2 Truth be told. 【翻譯】說實話，坦率地說。

【關(guān)鍵詞】抽象性名詞前可以不加冠詞，但是truth作為真相，事實，真實情況這個意思來講，要和定冠詞"the"連用才能表達這個意思。It means "the true facts about something rather than the things that have been guessed or invented". Let's look at it's classical sentences including useful phrases. 有些人死得不明不白，那死的可真冤，真相一定要查出來。 We'er determined to get at the truth. 我們決心查出真相。"Get at the truth" means "discover the truth". 查明(找出)真相。現(xiàn)在都是雇傭工了，如果您在的那個單位不好的話，那你就得回家了。The truth of the matter is we cannot afford to keep all the staff on. 實際情況是我們無力繼續(xù)聘用所有職工。Keep somebody on means "continue employing him and give him payment regularly". 繼續(xù)雇傭某人。I don't think you tell me the whole truth about what happened. 我認為你并沒有把事情的全部真相告訴我。The truth about something意思是關(guān)于.....的事實。Here's a set phrase "in truth" which is used to emphasize the true fact about something. It's similar to saying"in fact." 我們在一定的場合最好不要把喜怒哀樂顯露于色，人心叵測呀。She laughed and chatted but was, in truth, not having much fun. 雖然他又說又笑，但實際上玩得并不開心。這個人做得好，若是您把您的哀現(xiàn)于顏，那您的敵人就幸災樂禍了。

3 I'm not feeling very good. 【翻譯】我感到不大舒服。

【關(guān)鍵詞】"Good" means "healthy or strong".譯為：健康的，強健的，健壯的。或許人家叫你去做一件事情，而你沒做，可是你說人家沒說，人家會氣得說你耳朵有毛病，這時你會這樣說：Can you speak into my good ear again? 你能對我我這沒毛病的耳朵再說一次嗎?speak into one’s ear 對著某人的耳朵說話。

"Feel" means "to experience a particular feeling or emotion" as a linking verb. 作為系動詞是“覺得，感到，體會到”的意思。有人在受挫折之時，你這樣說一句：I know exactly how you feel. 人家會寬慰很多。那句話的意思是：我完全理解你的心情。人在心情不好的時候很容易發(fā)脾氣而得罪了領(lǐng)導就被開了，這時有人就說了：Luckily I was feeling in a good mood. 幸好當時我情緒好。前不久郁鈞劍到桂林演出，唱到一半時，話筒出毛病了，但是他那豐富的舞臺經(jīng)驗使他沒有焦急而像一個大傻瓜那樣站在那兒。換做是我，Standing there on the stage, I felt a complete idiot. 我站在舞臺上覺得自己簡直就像是個大傻瓜。再過一段時間，就到酷暑了，the heat makes you feel faint. 炎熱使你覺得要昏倒了。有的人真是不見棺材不掉淚，he seemed to feel no remorse at all. 他似乎一點兒也不感到懊悔。以上的句子中feel是作為系動詞，后面接名詞或是形容詞，但是都可以改為look like，后面再跟上那些名詞或是形容詞，但是這時like就是實義動詞了。

【文法】feel是系動詞，和am not一起構(gòu)成這個句子的謂語，good 表語，very是程度副詞修飾good這個形容詞，做程度狀語。
