詞組講解

1. get down to business 〔work〕 **開始做正事;進入嚴肅話題

解 習語;詞義溯源:[下降(down)]到達[正事、工作(business,work)]

例 Don't bother to bring your proposals with you tomorrow. Mr. Chen wants everybody to take a tour of the new factory first. Then we'll get down to business on the second day. Okay?

2. get down to cases **開始談正事,著手干正事

例 Once the engineers have re-drafted the building's plans, we can get down to cases on such things as what style of bricks you want, the color of the floors, the type of furniture, etc.

3. get down to the nitty-gritty *認真考慮細節(jié)

解 俚語;詞義溯源:[下降(down)]到達[問題的核心、本質(zhì)(nitty-gritty)]

例 Ithink it was about 11:00 PM that we actually got down to the nitty-gritty. We worked through the night and had our costumes ready for the parade by 12:00 the next day.

4. get 〔have〕 goose bumps 〔pimples〕 **起雞皮疙瘩,毛骨悚然
