客人A: Hey, are you the manager? I have a complaint about one of your employees.
嘿,你是經(jīng)理嗎?我要投訴你們這里的一位員工。
經(jīng)理B: Yes, I'm the manager. Please tell me what happened.
是的,我就是經(jīng)理。請告訴我發(fā)生了什么。
I have a complaint about…
我要投訴…;我對…有意見
這里complaint是complain的名詞形式,而complain是動詞。
投訴對象可以是個人,也可以是物,或者事。
舉個例子:
① The food was good, but I have a compalint about the service. It's too slow.
食物很不錯,但是我要投訴一下服務(wù)。太慢了。
② I have a complaint about the opening paragraph. I think it's too long and boring.
我對開頭一段有意見。我覺得太長太無聊了。
經(jīng)理詢問要投訴誰,客人指出了那個種族歧視的人:
客人A: See that guy over there? He made a racist comment about me. It was very offensive.
看到那邊那個人了嗎?他對我說了種族歧視的話。非常冒犯人。
經(jīng)理B: Racist? How so? We take racism here very seriously.
種族歧視?怎么回事?我們這里對種族歧視是非常嚴(yán)肅對待的。
當(dāng)有人說了關(guān)于“種族歧視”的言論,就可以用這個句式表達(dá)出來:
Make a racist comment about
對…發(fā)表種族歧視的言論
· Make a comment = 發(fā)表言論
· Make a racist comment about + 人 = 發(fā)表了針對“某人”的種族歧視言論
舉兩個例子:
① Everyone's mad because the CEO made a racist comment about African Americans.
所有人都很生氣,因為CEO對非裔美國人發(fā)表了種族主義言論。
② My coworker makes racist comments about Asians all the time and HR does nothing about it.
我的同事總是對亞洲人發(fā)表種族歧視的言論,而人力資源部門卻什么也沒做。
說明對方說了“種族歧視”的話,還是再加一句,說明一下:
It was very offensive.
這非常無禮/非常冒犯人
在口語中的舉例:
① The ad made fun of Chinese people. It was very offensive.
這則廣告嘲笑中國人。非常冒犯人。
② I saw the movie and it was very offensive. Theyportrayed Americans as very dumb.
我看了這部電影,非常冒犯人。他們把美國人描繪成非常愚蠢的人。
