A ship upon the shoals to-night!
無助小船，今晚撞沉海灘，
She cannot hold for one half hour;
落葉飄零， 很快將葬身海底，
But clear the ropes and grappling hooks,
老人揚開風(fēng)帆，冒死飛去營救，
And trust in the Almighty Power!
至高無上力量，榮歸上帝。
On the drenched gallery he stands,
海水猛烈，撲打無助的船舷，
Striving to pierce the solid night:
小船刺破，風(fēng)高浪涌的夜深，
Across the sea the red eye throws a steady CRImson wake of light;
黢黑海面，升起一掬希望燈火，美好靜謐，蕩開溫馨的祝福。
And, where it falls upon the waves,
突然間，波濤滾動的浪尖，
He sees a human head float by,
燈光朦朧，水面泊來人影，
With long drenched curls of chestnut hair,
那栗色長發(fā)，熟悉身影，
And wild but fearless hazel eye.
褐色眼睛，依然透出畏懼。
Out with the hooks! One mighty fling!
老人取出鐵勾，猛力擲出，
Adown the wind the long rope curls.
順著風(fēng)向，飛出長長索繩，
Oh! will it catch? Ah, dread suspense!
噢！他能抓住嗎？一陣揪心懸念！
While the wild ocean wilder whirls.
海浪撲天，卷起漩渦飛旋，
A steady pull; it tightens now:
握住扯緊，一步步拽拉，
Oh! his old heart will burst with joy,
天呀！他簡直心花怒放，
As on the slippery rocks he pulls the breathing body of his boy.
落水少年，被拖上滑膩的礁石，他在喘息，查理還活著。
Still sweep the specters through the sky;
幽靈鬼怪，天馬行空御風(fēng)疾馳，
Still scud the clouds before the storm;
白云蒼狗，穿過世間喧囂紛爭，
Still naked in the howling night
時光裸露，倏然跌進風(fēng)暴的夜晚，
The red-eyed lighthouse lifts its form.
漸次燈火，映亮大地黑色眼瞳。
Without, the world is wild with rage;
沒有光，世界將充滿瘋狂憤怒，
Unkenneled demons are abroad;
群魔亂舞，血腥淋漓內(nèi)心恐懼，
But with the father and the son within, there is the peace of God.
父親在，愛亦在，孩子亦在，悲憫眾生，祈禱上帝福祉降臨。
