杰夫的一天 第75期：開(kāi)車(chē)回家和跑腿講解(1)

This episode is called "The Commute Home and Running Errands." 這一部分叫做“開(kāi)車(chē)回家和跑腿”。

Commute, you know, means driving back and forth from your house to your work. 通勤，是開(kāi)車(chē)從家中往返工作地點(diǎn)意思。

To run an errand, "errand," means to do something, usually something outside of your house. 跑腿(errand)，意思是去做某事，通常是你家外面的事情。

For example, going to the grocery store, going to the drug store, stopping by the post office to mail a letter, 例如，去雜貨店，去藥店，去郵局寄信，

these are things that you have to do that are not part of your work but that you need to do in your daily life. 這些都是你必須要做的事情，雖然不是你工作的一部分，但卻是你日常生活中需要去做的。

And, we call these things errands, and the verb is to run an errand. 我們稱(chēng)這些事情為差事，動(dòng)詞就是跑腿。

Our story says, "It's five o'clock and it's quitting time." 我們的故事說(shuō)，“現(xiàn)在是下午5點(diǎn)，該下班了”。

Quitting time is the time that you stop working. “Quitting time”是你停止工作的時(shí)間。

To quit, "quit," means to stop, so quitting time is the time that you stop working at the end of the day. “Quit”是“停止”的意思，因此“quitting time”就是一天下來(lái)，你停止工作的時(shí)間。

"I put a few files into my bag," I "grab my mug," — my coffee mug — and I "say goodnight to the rest of the people in my area." “我把一些文件裝入包中，拿上馬克杯——我的咖啡杯——向我部門(mén)里剩下的人道了晚安。”
