　　make an effort 努力

　　在英語會(huì)話中，比起動(dòng)詞本身，更愿意用動(dòng)詞的名詞形式來表達(dá)含義。像前文中的 have, take, give 一樣，make 也能造出各種各樣的短語。

　　例句：

　　I have to make a speech next week.

　　我下周得做一次演講。

　　It's time for you to make a choice.

　　你該做個(gè)抉擇了。

　　Finally, I have made a choice. I'm not going.

　　我終于做出了個(gè)決定，我不去了。

　　We can make an exception this one time.

　　這次我們網(wǎng)開一面。

　　It's a private party. I can not make an exception.

　　這是個(gè)私人宴會(huì)，不能有例外。

　　I have a confession to make. You didn't cause the accident.

　　我有些事情要說。引起這次事故的人不是你。

　　I've got a confession to make. I'm not your mother.

　　我得老實(shí)交代了，我不是你親生母親。

　　Are you here to make a contribution to my campaign?

　　你是來助我選舉的嗎？

　　I'm here to make a big announcement.

　　我是來做一個(gè)重大報(bào)告的。

　　My father made me an offer that I couldn't refuse.

　　我爸給我提出了一個(gè)難以抗拒的提議。

　　對話：

　　A: We can go to Hawaii or to Tokyo.

　　我們可以去夏威夷或東京。

　　B: Why don't you make the choice for us?

　　你幫我們決定唄。

　　A: I'm sorry that my homework was turned in late.

　　很抱歉，作業(yè)交晚了。

　　B: I'll make an exception now, but never again.

　　這次就算個(gè)例外，下不為例了。

　　A: I think we need to make an offer on the house.

　　我覺得我們得申請買那座房子。

　　B: The last thing that we want to do is make the wrong decision.

　　我最不想做出錯(cuò)誤的決定了。
