① recognize是及物動(dòng)詞。
(1)表示“辨認(rèn),認(rèn)出(曾見(jiàn)過(guò)的人或物)”,是建立在原來(lái)認(rèn)識(shí)的基礎(chǔ)上的。
I recognized him without difficulty. 我毫不費(fèi)力地認(rèn)出了他。
She has changed so much that I can hardly recognize her. 她變化那么大,我?guī)缀跽J(rèn)不出來(lái)了。
(2)表示“認(rèn)可,承認(rèn)(government,country,theory),認(rèn)識(shí)到”,結(jié)構(gòu)為:

recognize表示“認(rèn)出(熟悉的人或物),認(rèn)識(shí)到(某種價(jià)值、合法性、真實(shí)性)”,為非延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞;而know則表示“認(rèn)識(shí)”,為延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞。比較:
我認(rèn)識(shí)他多年了。
I have recognized him for many years.
I have known him for many years.
② know…from表示“認(rèn)出,區(qū)分,辨認(rèn)”。
They are twins and it's almost impossible to know one from the other. 他們是雙胞胎,要分清他們倆幾乎是不可能的。
