387　insist on，stick to，keep on，persist in和persevere

① insist on sth./doing sth.意為“堅(jiān)持要干某事”。

He insisted on writing the book. 他堅(jiān)持要寫這本書。

He insisted on his own opinions. 他堅(jiān)持自己的意見(jiàn)。

② keep up doing sth.意為“把……繼續(xù)下去，不松懈”，也可以說(shuō)keep sth. up。

Since you have been doing the research work for five years，you should keep it up. 既然你從事這項(xiàng)研究工作已有5年了，你就應(yīng)該把它繼續(xù)進(jìn)行下去。

③ stick to的意思同insist on和persist in差不多，較口語(yǔ)化，是對(duì)“原則，決定，愿望，意見(jiàn)，諾言，理想，理論”等的堅(jiān)持，to為介詞，后接名詞或動(dòng)名詞，不接不定式。

He sticks to the principle through sick and thin. 他在任何情況下都堅(jiān)持原則。

We stick to what is right. 我們堅(jiān)持正確的東西。

④ keep on表示continue to do，指克服困難、頑強(qiáng)奮斗，也指一般的“老是”做某事。keep on后常接動(dòng)名詞作賓語(yǔ)，也可單獨(dú)使用。

Keep on practising and you will speak English fluently. 堅(jiān)持多練，你英語(yǔ)就能說(shuō)得流利。

Don't keep on asking silly questions. 不要老是問(wèn)愚蠢的問(wèn)題。

The rain kept on several days. 雨一連下了好幾天。

⑤ persist表示不顧困難或障礙，堅(jiān)持某種活動(dòng)；有時(shí)含貶義，表示固執(zhí)，不聽(tīng)勸告，結(jié)構(gòu)為：persist in sth./doing sth.。

He persisted in his foolish ideas. 他堅(jiān)持其愚蠢的想法。

She persists in wearing the old-fashioned hat. 她堅(jiān)持要戴那頂舊式的帽子。

If you persist in breaking the law，you will go to prison. 如果你堅(jiān)持違法犯罪活動(dòng)，你就得蹲班房。

⑥ persevere表示“堅(jiān)持不懈，不屈不撓，堅(jiān)忍不拔”，指不顧困難，始終如一地堅(jiān)持，常含褒義，結(jié)構(gòu)為：persevere in/at/with sth.，persevere with sb.。

He persevered in/at/with his studies amidst all these difficulties. 身處所有這些困難之中，他仍然堅(jiān)持不懈地學(xué)習(xí)。

Although she was hopeless at chemistry，the teacher persevered with her. 雖然她的化學(xué)怎么教也不會(huì)，但老師仍然堅(jiān)持教她。
