① hear of意為“聽說,聽到,得到消息”,指從別人那里間接得知。
I have heard of her arrival. 我聽說她已經(jīng)到了。
I have never heard of him since then. 自那以后,我沒有聽到關(guān)于他的音訊。
② hear from意為“收到……的來信,得到……的消息”,其賓語可以是人或物,并可用于被動語態(tài)。
She seldom hears from him. 她很少收到他的來信。
She hears from America every month. 她每個月都會收到美國的來信。
She hasn't heard from hometown for years. 她好幾年沒有得到家鄉(xiāng)的音訊了。
The man disappeared a year ago,never to be heard from again. 那人一年前失蹤了,再也沒有得到他的音訊。
③ 表示“聽到,聽說”時,hear of有時可同hear about換用,但hear about表示知道得更詳細、具體。
I have heard about/of his achievement in the field. 我聽說過他在這個領(lǐng)域的成就。
④ will not hear of中的hear of不可譯為“聽見”,句中的will或would是情態(tài)動詞,表示“愿意,想”,will not hear of表示“拒絕考慮,不同意”,這種結(jié)構(gòu)中的of后可加名詞或動名詞。
I won't hear of such a plan. 我不同意這樣的計劃。
He wouldn't hear of doing it that way. 他不同意那樣做。
