292　force，make和oblige

① force用作動(dòng)詞時(shí)，為及物動(dòng)詞，意為“迫使，強(qiáng)迫，強(qiáng)加于”，結(jié)構(gòu)為：

force sb. to do sth.

force sth.+賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)（形容詞，副詞，介詞短語(yǔ)）

force sb. into doing sth.

be forced to do sth.

force one's way through/into sth.

The thief forced the window. 小偷破窗而入。

You mustn't force him to do it. 你不應(yīng)該強(qiáng)迫他做這個(gè)。

They forced the door open. 他們把門(mén)強(qiáng)行打開(kāi)了。

We forced the enemy plane down. 我們迫使敵機(jī)降落了。

They forced him into taking the job. 他們強(qiáng)迫他接受了那項(xiàng)工作。

Don't force your ideas upon others. 不要把你的想法強(qiáng)加于別人。

He was forced to put off the visit. 他被迫推遲這次訪問(wèn)。

She forced her way through the crowd. 她不得不從人群中擠出一條路來(lái)。

② force和make都可以表示“迫使”，但有區(qū)別。force含有較強(qiáng)的“暴力威脅”之意，而make則表示一般意義上的“使得，讓”。比較force和make的不同結(jié)構(gòu)：

force sb. to do sth.

make sb. do sth.

Who forced him to move out of the room？誰(shuí)強(qiáng)迫他搬出那個(gè)房間的？

What made him think so？什么使他這么想的？

They made me repeat the story. 他們讓我重復(fù)那故事。

③ oblige表示“迫使，不得不”，強(qiáng)調(diào)必要性，多指由于感情迫使或內(nèi)部動(dòng)機(jī)迫使做某事。結(jié)構(gòu)為：be obliged to do sth.。

She was obliged to abandon that idea. 她被迫放棄那種想法。

Having been to their party，we were obliged to invite them to ours. 由于參加了他們的聚會(huì)，我們不得不請(qǐng)他們來(lái)參加我們的。
